Tour of Dr. Erica Davis’s research lab at the Stanley Manne Children's Research Institute at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago
We had the incredible honor of a personal tour of Dr. Erica Davis’s research lab at the Stanley Manne Children's Research Institute at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago. Dr. Davis’s lab, the Advanced Center for Translational and Genetic Medicine (ACT-GeM), was founded in 2019 to tackle research questions at the intersection of genetics, genomics, cell biology and clinical investigation.
Dr. Davis and her team are using cutting edge research with zebrafish (they have two eyes, a mouth, brain, spinal cord, intestine, pancreas, liver, bile ducts, kidney, esophagus, heart, ear, nose, muscle, blood, bone, cartilage, and teeth!) to study rare pediatric genetics. 70% of human genes are found in zebrafish!
We’re so honored to have Dr. Davis on the Jack Bear Scientific Board. While it was a lot to take in for Jack and us, we were encouraged, inspired and in absolute awe after witnessing such brilliant ingenuity up close.
